Ninth Street Drainage Project to Start Monday

0

June 4, 2005 – The final phase of the Ninth Street drainage culvert extension project will start on Monday, according to a press release issued Friday by George Phillips, Department of Public Works acting commissioner.
"The work will include enclosing the open channel that runs through the West Indian Co. property being developed by Island Capital at Yacht Haven," Phillips said, adding that the work would allow Island Capital to "fully utilize the areas above the drainage system for parking, traffic circulation, walkways, and for other purposes."
The work is being done by Tip Top Construction on a $1.4 million federal contract approved by Gov. Charles W. Turnbull, Phillips said.
The project is slated for completion in September. The first phase of the Yacht Haven project – which includes office and retail space, restaurants and condominium units – is scheduled for mid-2006, according to its owners.
