Sept. 2, 2005 – Police arrested two men at the Smith Bay Texaco on St. Thomas on weapons and drug possession charges, Deputy Police Chief Angelo Hill said Friday.
A concerned citizen alerted police to suspicious activity at the Texaco, Hill said, and police stormed the building at around 7:45 p.m. Thursday.
Akimo Martin, 22, and Jiero Nibbs, both attendants at the station, were arrested when police found two handguns and small amounts of marijuana on the men, Hill said.
A K-9 officer sniffed out a nearby duffle bag in which police found a Mac-11 machine gun, half a pound of marijuana and a large sum of cash.
Hill declined to say how much cash was in the bag.
Both men are being held in St. Thomas pending arraignment, he said.
