Sept. 17, 2005 – As the relief effort for the people of the Gulf coast is going to be an ongoing effort, residents of St. Croix are making an ongoing effort to help.
Merchants and restaurants of Christiansted are holding a mini Jump Up this Saturday on the boardwalk starting at 5 p.m. Proceeds from the sales of donated items and raffle profits will be donated to St. Croix Foundation and it will then be distributed to Catholic Charities or Salvation Army.
There has also been the ongoing drive by the Lt. Governor's office (See " Virgin Islanders Rally to Help Katrina Victims ").
Next Saturday Chenay Bay Resort is sponsoring Kat-Fest.
The $25 entrance fee for that concert, according to Peter Locke, owner of Chenay, will be donated to victims of Katrina.
The concert includes Dennis Yost of the Classics IV, Bay City Rollers, Henry Gross, and Jonathan Edwards.
Businesses collecting for the effort at the mini Jump Up include: Tradewinds, Violettes Boutique, Divi Carina, Grapetree, Cheeseburgers, Forms a Plenty and Computer Solutions.
