Ophelia and Victor Torres Will Read and Sign Their Books

Oct. 8, 2005 – The Friends of the Elaine I. Sprauve Library will host a book signing and reading at the library on Friday, Oct. 21, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Local authors Ophelia Powell Torres, a registered nurse and assistant professor of nursing at the University of the Virgin Islands, St. Thomas campus, and Victor Manuel Torres, a professor at Borough of Manhattan Community College, will be present.
They will read excerpts from their book "Caribbean Poetry, Folktales, and Short Stories." Copies will be available for purchase and autograph. Her hobbies are reading, writing poetry and designing floral arrangements. She is an undergraduate of the College of the Virgin Islands and a graduate of New York University. His hobbies are tennis, architectural designing, boating and fishing. He is a graduate of Inter-American University, Puerto Rico and a graduate of Teachers College, Columbia University, New York. Light refreshments will be served.
