Nov. 9, 2005 – The Annual Veterans Day 5K/Virgin Islands Cross-Country Championships will be held on Friday, Nov. 11, at 4 p.m., at the University of the Virgin Islands St. Croix Campus. Male and female runners of all ages are invited to participate in this annual competition, which is also the final event in the V.I.Pace/4-H Cross-Country Series.
Since October, elementary, junior varsity, varsity and open runners have been competing in races at UVI's St. Croix campus under true cross-country distances. The elementary school runners will run 1-mile, the JV runners, 2 miles, and the high school and open runners, the 5 kilometer (3.1 mile) distances. Winning runners will decide the V.I. championships in each category. Runners from throughout the territory are expected to compete.
