VIWMA Announces Winners of Poster Contest

Nov. 19, 2005 – The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority sponsored a "Yes, We Can Recycle!" poster contest from Oct. 11 through Nov. 10 to commemorate America Recycles Day. The contest targeted junior high and high school students in an effort to stimulate discussion about the environment and raise awareness about recycling and other waste stream issues, according to the press release from VIWMA.
The winners of the contest are:
7th Grade

2nd Place——–Rokeya Connor of Manor School
Honorable Mention———Jamilla Edwards of Elena Christian Junior High School
8th Grade
1st Place——–Ashlee E. Douglas of Good Hope School
2nd Place——-Nia Jackson of Manor School
Honorable Mention——–Kevin Wattley of Arthur A. Richards Junior High School
9th Grade
1st Place——–Chelese Navarro of Manor School
2nd Place——–Tiffany George of Manor School
Honorable Mention——–Miguel Figuero of Manor School
10th Grade
1st Place——–Michael Smith of Manor School
2nd Place——–Maria Rodriguez of Manor School

Congratulations to all of the winners. The winning posters will be commemorated in a 2006 VIWMA calendar. The participation of all of the schools in the contest is greatly appreciated.
