World AIDS Day Activities

Nov. 22, 2005 – Dec. 1, marks World AIDS Day 2005. It is observed around the world, and in St. Thomas/St. John there are several activities that have been coordinated by Helping Others in a Positive Environment.
There will be an interdenominational church service at the Nazareth Lutheran Church on Thursday, Dec. 1, at 5:30 p.m., given by HOPE Inc. It will be followed at 6 p.m. by a candlelight vigil. At the church there will be HIV testing and counseling at 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. The church is located on the right side of street, opposite side from Cruz Bay Park and Coral Bay Jewelers. Take the street from the Cruz Bay Dock.
Other acivities include HIV testing and counseling at Myrah Keating Smith Health Center on Tuesday, Nov. 29, at 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
On Thursday, Dec. 1, there will be A Moment of Silence in collaboration with WGOD, WSTA, AM1000, 105JAMZ, and KISS 101.3 at noon, followed by the playing of Stand Up for Love by Destiny's Child.
This year's theme is STOP AIDS, Keep the Promise.
