Young Runners Set Stage for Children's Parade


Jan. 9, 2006 — Wyn Charley and Khra Thomas of the Hounds and Foxes Track Club almost tied at the finish Friday for the overall victory in the Children Race in Frederiksted.
Charley won in two minutes and 36 seconds the 800-meter run down King Street that kicked-off the Children's Day Parade. Thomas was second just hundreds of a second later. Wildallys Hiro Arillan of Vieques was third in 2:39; Andrea Wynter of Hounds and Foxes was fourth in 2:47 and Kran Dascent of the Burnley Dragons Track Club was fifth and the first place finisher for girls under 10 years old in 3:03.
Eight-year-old Malique Smith, of the Burnley Dragons, was the top male runner with a time of 2:40; Mariano Marcelino of Vieques was second in 2:42; Salier Miro was third in 2:45; and Dennis Vanterpool was fourth in 4:39.
