News Brief: Meridith Nielsen Named Head of LEPC

Feb. 8, 2006 – Gov. Charles Turnbull named Meridith Nielsen to head the Law Enforcement Planning Commission and to assume the post of Drug Policy Advisor.
Nielsen has served in an acting capacity since January 2005.
Nielsen did not return phone calls requesting comment.
According to a press release from Government House, Nielsen graduated from City University of New York with a bachelor's degree in political science. He studied American government and communications. He also holds a master's degree in political science and is a candidate for a doctorate from Howard University.
Nielsen has held several positions with the local government, working as a grant administrator at the V.I. State Administrative Agency, as deputy drug policy advisor and as director of special projects.
