Agriculture Fair Parking, Traffic Restrictions Set

Feb. 15, 2006 – Parking restrictions are set for the Agricultural and Food Fair to be held at the Department of Agriculture grounds, Estate Lower Love, Friday through Monday.
According to Deputy Chief of Police Herminio Velazquez, the following restrictions will be on the Queen Mary Highway, on Lower Love Road and along the fencing of the Department of Agriculture. The restrictions will be in effect from 6 a.m. till fair activities end each night.
– Motorist traveling west on the Queen Mary will be diverted through Golden Grove entrance to the Melvin Evans Highway to continue to the western area of St. Croix. Motorist traveling east on Queen Mary will be diverted through the Upper Love Road to Mid Island Road to continue traveling to the eastern area of St. Croix.
– No parking will be permitted on the sides of the roadway from East Airport Road intersection to the intersection at Estate Adventure and Grove Place.
Also, no vendors will be permitted to do business on Queen Mary Highway from the main entrance to the University of the Virgin Islands and westward to the intersection at Estate Adventure and Grove Place.
Velazquez also cautioned, in a recent press release, that only authorized vehicles will be allowed onto the fair grounds.
Parking for the handicapped will be provided at the western gate. Vehicles with stickers or decals attempting to enter without the physically disable person will not be permitted to enter. Any vehicle found parked in restricted areas will be ticketed and/or towed at the owner's expense.
The dirt road located west of the Agricultural Fair grounds, in the vicinity of the Lower Love Gas Station, will be changed to one-way traffic flowing in a northern direction only. Vehicles exiting onto this road will travel north around the fair grounds and exit on the Upper Love Road.
Directional signs will be posted to direct motorists and venders to the appropriate parking locations.
