Feb. 23, 2006 – On Sunday, Feb. 26, Nana Baby Children's Home will receive some well-needed renovation assistance from Ingram Micro, the world's largest technology distributor, and from several local donors.
From 9 a.m. to noon, executives from Ingram Micro and its leading manufacturer partners, Cisco, HP, IBM, Lenovo and Lexmark, will be on St. Thomas to assist in renovation projects at the private nonprofit children's home, which was established in 1989.
Nana Baby Home for Children is an emergency foster home serving children to age 12.
Ingram Micro customers, partners and executives will divide into five groups to paint interior rooms, the home's exterior, the basketball court and a swing set. They will also landscape around a new fence and install a new basketball backboard.
The company and its partners also funded construction of a concrete storage room with material and services donated by MSI Building Supplies, the Department of Planning and Natural Resources, Springline Architects, St. Thomas Concrete, Heavy Materials and other local donors.
In 2005 Ingram Micro and its associates collectively donated more than $1 million to various nonprofit organizations, including tsunami and Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.
