Coral Bay Flotilla to Set Sail April 1

0

March 14, 2006 – Set sail for Hansen Bay with the Coral Bay Yacht Club on April 1 for its annual Spring Regatta and Flotilla Beach Party.
Be at the Coral Bay dinghy dock at 8 a.m. for the sail. The party, to be held at Vie's Campground, located directly on the beach, will wrap up at 5 p.m.
Tickets are $40 and include lunch. Folks who prefer to drive to Hansen Bay pay $20 for lunch. Coordinator Lewis Alexander said that lunch includes hot dogs, hamburgers and West Indian food.
"That goes fast," he said, referring to the West Indian food.
The beach party will also include music by Inner Vision, and drinks will be for sale.
The money raised goes to pay for playground renovations and equipment at Guy Benjamin School in Coral Bay.
Alexander said that some of the boats in the flotilla will race to Hansen Bay, but if those attending the event don't want to race they'll be assigned to boats that will make the three-hour trip at a more leisurely pace.
"It's pretty laid back," he said.
Alexander said that currently, about a half-dozen boats have signed up to participate. However, if others want to join in the fun by taking passengers on board, they should sign up at Connections in Cruz Bay or Coral Bay, Keep Me Posted and Skinny Legs Bar and Restaurant in Coral Bay, or Cimmaron Builders in the Lumberyard shopping complex.
Tickets are available at both Connections locations, Keep Me Posted, St. John Hardware or from any yacht club member. Participants may also purchase tickets the morning of the event.
Raffle tickets will be sold for a 12-foot Caribe inflatable dinghy with a 15-horse power Yamaha engine.
Call Alexander at 514-9495 for more information.
