0

March 27, 2006 – The Executive Leadership Foundation is holding their 12th Annual National Essay Competition for African American undergraduate students. The theme this year is "Making the Business Case for the New Diversity Leadership," and carries a first place award of $7,000. The second through sixth place prizes range from $6,000 to $1,000. In addition to cash awards, all winners will be offered an all expense-paid trip to New York City and Washington D.C. to participate in the Executive Leadership Foundation's Student Honors Symposium on October 22-27. The symposium will include meetings with Fortune 500 CEOs and senior executives. Applications must be postmarked no later than March 31.
The purpose of the foundation is to build African-American corporate leaders from the classroom to the boardroom.
UVI students must write an essay on the following question: "In the early years, building the pipeline by getting people into the doors of corporate America and keeping them there was the major focus. Now the value of diverse global leadership is about more than just numbers. What progress, if any, has been made in changing the way corporate America relates to Black America – and vice versa?"
