Sprauve Library to Offer Job Hunting Workshops

0

March 30, 2006 – The Elaine I. Sprauve Library on St. John celebrates National Library Week by helping people with their job hunting and craft skills.
The library plans two workshops on April 4 to assist job seekers and people already in the workforce who want to change jobs.
The library will also hold a workshop April 5 on learning to knit, crochet and sew. It runs from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The first April 4 workshop helps working adults tune up their resume and interviewing skills. It runs from 2 to 3:30 p.m. People with a current resume should bring it. People without one should come anyway.
The second April 4 workshop runs from 3:30 to 5 p.m. and is for people getting ready to enter the world of work. Participants will learn how to write a resume and how to interview professionally.
"It's geared for people with no experience," librarian Carol McGuinness said.
St. John resident Kathy Hurley will lead the job seeker skills workshops. Before moving to St. John, she worked in the telecommunications and entertainment industries where she interviewed and recruited thousands of applicants.
The April 5 learn to knit, crochet and sew workshop will be led by St. John resident Vashti Boynes.
Crafts will be on exhibit at the library throughout the week of April 3.
McGuinness said these seminars will show that the library offers more than "just checking out books."
Call the library at 776-6359 for more information.
