She Moved to Avoid Violence in V.I.

Dear Source:
After reading this editorial, I was moved to note that being a native born St. Thomian with two sons I had to make the decision not to move my family back to St. Thomas due to the violence in our little island. I stayed in Florida and endured many hardships as a single parent. But it was far safer than returning home. Now my eldest son Taheem Acevedo, 20, is a junior at Florida Atlantic University – also starting as a strong safety on their football team. In addition my second son Ammiel Callwood, 17, will be attending Florida Memorial University in the fall. I must say that their success is attributed to not bring them back home to St. Thomas and that is SAD.
