Nov. 11, 2006 – A fire on a utility pole in Coral Bay, St. John, briefly knocked out power to much of the island Saturday morning.
Glenn Rothgeb of the V.I. Water and Power Authority said around noon that he expected power to return by early afternoon. After the initial problem, he said, power remained out only in the Coral Bay area. The fire happened when a vehicle hit the pole shortly after 9 a.m., Rothgeb said.
