Dec. 30, 2006 — Streets will close and parking restrictions will go into effect for inaugural events this week as John P. deJongh becomes governor and Gregory R. Francis becomes lieutenant governor, according to Police.
For events Monday on St. Thomas, Police will bar traffic on the roads surrounding Emancipation Garden until the completion of the inaugural ceremony and parade. The roads will close at midnight Sunday (New Year's Eve) and reopen at 2 p.m. Monday (New Year's Day).
Police advise motorists to use alternate routes until the scheduled events are completed.
