Boyz Dem, Mo Fire Finish Regular Season on Winning Note


Feb. 3, 2007 — The regular season of the Ronald Charles Basketball Association came to an end Friday night at Central High's Ronald Charles gymnasium as the 10-to-12 division closed out its season with two very exciting games.
Boyz Dem 38, Zion 37
In game one, overtime was required to decide the outcome between Boyz Dem and Zion. In the end, Boyz Dem was able to pull out a one-point overtime win at 38-37, thanks in large part to Edward Peter Jr.'s 13 points. Teammates Rasheed Swanston chipped in with nine points, 14 rebounds and eight blocks, while Kairon Henry had 11 points, five boards and two steals. Zion was led by Aswad Lake, with 19 points, and Keith Horsford, with six points, seven boards and two steals.
Mo Fire 43, Working Together 35
In Game two between Mo fire and Working Together, Mo Fire opened the game on a 14-0 run to shut out Working Together in the first quarter. Working Together responded in the second quarter with a 17-2 run generated by their full court press to hold a 17-16 lead at the half. The two teams would slug it out for the rest of the game, but late in the fourth quarter the depth and size of Mo Fire propelled them to a 43- 35 victory.
Wayne Lowry led Mo Fire with 12 points and four steals, and Kelvin Thomas chipped in eight points, four boards and three steals. Working Together was led by Shomari Francis with 16 points, and Makeel Nicholas had 10 boards and three blocks.
The playoff start this Saturday at 6 p.m. at this same location.
