Education Cooperating in Study for Teacher Exams


Feb. 12, 2007 – The Virgin Islands Department of Education in cooperation with the Educational Testing Services (ETS) of Princeton, N.J., will engage in a validity study, to provide individuals interested in teaching in a particular area and who possess at least a bachelor's degree, to take an examination, according to a press release from the Department.
It will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Feb. 13-16, at the Divi Carina Bay Beach Resort on St. Croix. Approximately 140 participants have been registered for the study. "Teaching professionals hired by the V.I. Department of Education will be required to be subject area competent in order to meet the highly qualified definition of the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act, thereby necessitating this activity, " said Alscess Lewis Brown, Education's human resources director.
