George Alphonso Washington Dies at 82


Jan. 21, 2008 – George Alphonso Washington, also known as "Speedy George or "Chief," of Stony Ground, Frederiksted, died on Jan. 12, at the Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Rose-Ann Washington; daughter, Dianna Washington; grandchildren: Kijon, Xia Xiang and Sevon Washington; and nieces: Patricia Washington-Meiste and Keisha Washington-Cherant. He is also survived by special friends: Claude Richards, Meryl Maynard, Sylvan Richards Jr., Lucien Peterson, Dora Martin, Jean Donovan, Helena Adams, Alponso and Louise Milligan, Daphne Davis and Emile Almestica; as well as many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
There will be a viewing held from 10-11 a.m., on Friday, Jan. 25, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Frederiksted. It will be followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m., at the church.
