Ad Club of the VI to Host Luncheon on Viral Marketing and Social Networking Techniques

Feb. 13, 2008 – The Advertising Club of the Virgin Islands will host its first luncheon event of 2008 from noon to 1:30 p.m., on Friday, Feb. 15, at Betsy's Bar and Restaurant in Frenchtown. The club welcomes guest speaker Tony Pearman, CCO and partner of Access, a U.S. southeastern-based full-service advertising agency, according to a press release from the Ad Club of the VI.
Pearman will speak on non-traditional advertising including viral, guerrilla and street marketing. He will share practical examples of major successes, as well as failures and dangers of the newest of non-traditional media. The luncheon is an event surrounding the Virgin Islands and Caribbean Advertising Federation 2008 ADDY Awards competition where Pearman will serve as one of the distinguished judges. He is also a former chairperson of the American Advertising Federation National ADDY committee where he pioneered the movement to involve non-traditional advertising as a category in the ADDY Awards competitions.
The ADDY Awards competition is a three-tier local, regional and national competition, conducted annually by the AAF. Winners from the V.I. will be announced at the ADDY Awards Gala taking place on March 15 at Marriott's Frenchman's Reef Hotel. Local winners will compete in the AAF's 4th District competition in Florida. The winners of that competition will then be eligible for the ultimate prize – a National ADDY Award, to be announced in June 2008.
