Michael George Spoto Dead at 93


Feb. 29, 2008 – Michael George Spoto of Oldsmar died Feb. 25. Born in Manhattan, N.Y., he and his wife, Mary Ackerman Conrad, lived on St. John from 1976 until 1989, when he moved to Florida. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He was a photographer during the Depression and eventually co-owned Copy Line Graphic Arts in N.Y.C. for 30 years. He loved to travel and had visited every continent. He also loved sailing despite his inability to swim. He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church, Pikeville, Tenn. and Calvary Baptist Church, Clearwater, Fla.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Barry Spoto; son, Donald Spoto; stepsons: Peter and John Conrad, and John Barry; stepdaughters: Carol Buchanan, Debra Bryan; Janice Coulter and Donna Fleming; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2:30-3 p.m., and the funeral will start at 3 p.m., on Sunday, March 3, at Vinson Funeral Home, Tarpon Springs, Fla. 737-937-6111.
