Suns, Lil' Yankees, Reds Pick Up Little League Wins


March 30, 2008 — There were three games on tap in the Elmo Plaskett East Little League on Saturday at the D.C. Canegata ballpark, with the Suns, Lil' Yankees and the Reds all coming away winners.
Suns 8, Dodgers 5
In game one contested, the Suns outlasted the Dodgers 8-5 in a good one. The Suns had eight runs on seven hits with three errors while the Dodgers had five runs on six hits and they also committed three errors. The winning pitcher was Najib Gonzalez, while Romani Hansen got the loss for the Dodgers. Top hitters for the Suns were, Gonzalez, 1 for 2 with one RBI and Dante James was 1 for 3 with one RBI. For the Dodgers Romani Hansen was 2 for 3 and Marco Rhymer was 1 for 3 with one RBI.
Lil' Yankees 6, Lil' Alphas 1
The Lil' Yankees got the best of the Lil Alphas, 6-1, in the second game. The Lil’ Yankees had six runs on three hits while the Lil Alphas had one run on one hit. The winning pitcher was Steven Ventura, with Marcelino Rivera picking up the loss for the Lil Alphas. Top hitters for Lil Yankees were Deonte Brooks, 1 for 1 with a home run and four RBIs and Aldemar Santos was 1 for 1. For the Lil Alphas, Rashawn Foster was 1 for 2.
Reds 14, Angels 3
Reds starting pitcher Sergio Santiago turned in a dominating performance as his team rolled over the Angels 14-3 in four innings via the 10-run mercy-rule in game three. It was the Reds with 14 runs on six hits with three errors, while the Angels had three runs on three hits while committing eight errors. Akeem Reefer picked up the loss for the Angels. Top hitters for the Reds were Sauline Saldana, 2 for 3 with five RBIs, and Nathan Herbert, 2 for 4 with four RBIs. For the Angels, Apolino Acevedo was 1 for 2 with an RBI and Evanson Mathew was 1 for 2.
