The Yankees’ Romani Hansen blanked the Reds on Saturday.Four games were played over the weekend in the Elmo Plaskett East Little League 13-15 Division at the D.C. Canegata Baseball field. On Saturday the Yankees and Twins recorded lopsided wins, and on Sunday it was the Twins and Pirates in the win column.

Saturday Action

Yankees 15, Reds 0
In game one on Saturday, Romani Hansen pitched a three-hit, 15-0 shutout of the Reds. Reds pitching only gave up four hits itself, but their defensive effort was poor. Their six costly errors along with Hansen’s pitching proved to be their undoing. It was the Yankees with 15 runs on four hits and three errors, while the Reds finished with three hits and six errors. Top batter for the winners was Lakish Plante (1 for 2 with two RBIs). For the Reds, Michael Walker and Victor Osorio were both 1 for 1.

Twins 24, Pirates 3
The Twins roughed up the Pirates, 24-3, in game two on Saturday by way of the 10-run mercy rule. Winning pitcher Dalton Benjamin scattered four hits in the victory. The winners pounded out 15 hits in amassing their 24 runs, while the Pirates plated three runs on four hits. Top batters for the Twins were Benjamin and Jamari Venzen (1 for 2 with one RBI) and Jamari White (1 for 2). For the Pirates, Emmanuel Martinez was 3 for 4, and Sergio Santiago was 1 for 2 with one RBI.

Pirates 8, Yankees 7
The Pirates got back in the win column on Sunday with a hard-fought 8-7 victory over the Yankees. It was the Pirates with eight runs on eight hits and 7 errors, while the Yankees finished with seven runs on two hits and five errors. Top batters for the Pirates were Jahkeele Jarvis (3 for 3 with one RBI); and Emmanuel Martinez and Saulin Saldana (both 2 for 2 with one RBI). For the Yankees, Lakish Plante was 1 for 2 with an RBI.

Twins 24, Reds 6
The Twins plated another 24 runs on Sunday to bring their weekend total to 48 runs as they crushed the Reds 24-6 in game two on Sunday. The Reds defensive woes continued on Sunday as they committed an astounding 13 errors to bring their weekend total to 19 errors in two games. It was the Twins with 24 runs on 15 hits and three errors, while the Reds scored six runs on six hits and 13 errors. Steven Rodriguez got the win on the hill for the Pirates. Top batters for the winners were Rodriguez (3 for 4 with four RBIs), Jelan Weeks (2 for 5 with four RBIs) and Ian Lewis, Jamari Venzen, and Nigel Clark were all (2 for 3 with one RBI). For the Reds, Pedro Gonzalez was 3 for 4, and Nathan Herbert was 1 for 2 with an RBI.

The Twins Steven Rodriguez also wrapped up Player of the Week Honors for his outstanding hitting and pitching over the weekend.
