Bernardo Velasquez, also known as "Nando," of La Grande Princesse, Christiansted, died on March 29, at Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital. He was 52 years old.
He is survived by his mother, Elena Belardo Quezada; father, Leocadio Velasquez; daughter, Shaira Marie Velasquez; son, Marco Velasquez; grandchild, Shamira Rodriguez; sisters: Diana Romero, Luz Rosado, Evangelina Ramos, Grace, Valeria and Lorraine Velasquez; brothers: Angel and Gregorio Velasquez; stepfather, Augustin Quezada; nieces: Pricila Romero, Pebble Quinones, Diane Velasquez Hunt, Valeria, Dolores, Edna, Aida, Shakira and Darian Velasquez, Quianee James, Anthony Carroll and Malik Turner; and nephews: Ricardo, Charles, Enrique Jr. and Reynaldo Velasquez, Lee and Jason Ramos, Anthony Adams, Matthew and Victor Rosado, Moises, Angel Jr., Carlos and Ipson Velasquez.
He is also survived by brother-in-laws: Angel Romero and Miguel; sister-in-law, Felipa Velasquez; aunts: Carmen Belardo Santillan, Monserrate Rivera, American B. Cruz, Paulina B. Santiago, Lilliana Belardo De O’Neal (former senator), Maria Henderson, Juanita Johnson, Sarita Perez, Ruth Robles, Tabitha Phangyoa Velasquez and Valentina Gomez; aunts-in-law: Anna Iris and Yvonne Belardo; uncle-in-laws: Victorino Cruz, Miguel Rivera, Humberto O’Neal, Hector Santillan and Franz Christian; and many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
There will be a viewing held at 10 a.m. and a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 6, at Iglesia Christiana Damascus. Interment will follow at the Kingshill Cemetery.
