Are you ready to stop renting and start owning today? Are you not quite sure where to start? FirstBank wants to help the Virgin Islands community get on the right path to homeownership.
FirstBank will host a Homeownership Expo from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 18, at its Orange Grove location on St. Croix. Representatives will be available to discuss topics such as: budgeting techniques to: decrease debt and increase saving toward a down payment, mortgage program options, Government loan program options, how much mortgage you can afford based on income, and tips on how to repair damaged credit. Admission to the expo is free.
During the expo, a seminar will focus on “How to Qualify for Your Mortgage,” providing insight on the mortgage application process and bank requirements. The seminar will be conducted twice starting at 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.
Participants may also receive a credit report consultation at no charge once an official picture ID is provided. Virgin Islands Housing Finance Authority representatives will be present to discuss government loans programs, financial assistance and grants.
