St. Croix Troop Store Ready for Restructuring

0

The Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) Troop Store located at the Virgin Islands National Guard, Estate Bethlehem compound will discontinue its services on St. Croix effective Saturday, Jan. 19, as it is set for restructuring and remodeling in the upcoming months.
The Troop Store, available to all military members and their families, will close its doors and VING officials ask that the community be patient as a bigger and better store is in the works.
“I apologize for the abrupt closure of the Troop Store on St. Croix,” said Maj. Gen. Renaldo Rivera, adjutant general of the Virgin Islands. “Its current structuring will not support the VING, and we are looking to make changes and improvements.”
The goal is to reopen the store as a territorial-run AAFES store. It will provide local jobs and local revenue here in the territory, while providing the same benefits and pricing as before.
“I am excited for this opportunity to rebuild a new expanded store,” said Rivera. “With our 40th anniversary coming up, it is fitting that we continue to improve our capabilities to serve our members and the Virgin Islands community.”
St. Thomas will not be affected by this closure as the Post Exchange located there will continue to operate as normal.
For more information on the Troop Store closing, contact 2nd Lt. Kirk Rojas, VING public affairs officer at 712-7750 or e-mail [email protected].
