I was trying to think of something hopeful or profound to say to welcome in the New Year when I came upon a quote from an ancestor – one of the founding members of the Quaker movement.
Our life is love, and peace, and tenderness;
and bearing one with another,
and forgiving one another,
and not laying accusations one against another;
but praying one for another,
and helping one another up with a tender hand.—Isaac Pennington, Letters, 1667
I think this is an excellent way to bring in the New Year… helping each other in the times ahead.
I would add, to lay aside judgement and criticism, and live only in the present moment.
That’s my intention. Feel free to join my in my resolve.
Happy New Year!
