Future Business Leaders of America to Celebrate National Week Activities

0

During the week of Feb. 8-14, the Virgin Islands Chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda (FBLA-PBL) will celebrate National FBLA-PBL Week. FBLA-PBL is the largest and oldest business student organization in the world committed to preparing students for careers in business and business-related fields. Its mission is to bring business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs.
A quarter of a million high school and middle school students, college and university students, faculty, educators, administrators and business professionals have chosen to be members of this premier business education association. In the V.I., FBLA serves a total of 175 students at seven secondary schools.
Through the organization, its members have opportunities to develop competent, aggressive business leadership; strengthen their confidence in themselves and their work; create more interest in and understanding of American business enterprise; participate in the development of individual projects that contribute to the improvement of home, business and community; develop character; prepare for useful citizenship and foster patriotism; practice efficient money management; establish occupational goals; and facilitate the transition from school to work.
This year’s activities include:
Sunday – Mass/service at the church of the chapter president followed by brunch/lunch
Monday—Kick Off Day: Information regarding FBLA-PBL Week and the importance of joining student organizations will be shared at each school
Tuesday—Each One Reach One Day: “Bring a Friend” meeting where each member brings a non-member friend to be introduced to FBLA-PBL
Wednesday—Adviser Appreciation Day and Professional Attire Day: this day is set aside to pay special tribute to the dedicated advisers, teachers, administrators and other individuals who make the association possible on the local level.
Thursday – Connect with the Professional Division for Career Awareness Day: alumni or professional division members will be invited to speak in business classes or at a meeting, tour a business, or plan a job-shadowing day for local chapter members.
Friday—FBLA-PBL Pride Day: members will wear their FBLA spirit polo shirt to school, and workshops will be conducted.
