March 24, 2002 – Rotary Club of Charlotte Amalie is hosting "Easter Eggstravaganza" from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the UVI Reichhold parking grounds. It's a fun day for family and friends, and will be very profitable for some.
All the Easter folklore fun will be on tap: an Easter parade, an Easter egg hunt, and a visit from the Easter bunny.
There's a long list of games for the children: Egg in Spoon, 3 Legged Race, Bag Race, Tug of War, Thread the Needle, Pin the Tail on the Bunny, Red Light Green Light, Ping Pong Ball Throw, Basket Upset, On the Bank of the River, Simon Said, Here We Are – come and see revived the games of your childhood and find out about ones new to you.
There'll be games for grownups, too: horseshoes, and the like. An auto show will feature new models from car dealers.
Watch or do egg and face painting or duck a celebrity. If you've ever wanted to say any of these people are "all wet," here's your chance: Dr. Alfred Heath, Sen. Carlton Dowe, Michael Bornn, Lemuel Callwood, and, hopefully, Addie Ottley and Lt. Gov. G. Luz James.
Featured will be a Grand Egg Race, in which approximately 5,000 golf balls will be pretend eggs. You buy a ticket for an egg, watch the golf ball eggs roll from the start to the finish, and if your ticket wins – wow! First place gets $3,000, second gets $2,000 and third wins $1,000.
Proceeds will benefit Family Resource Center, Kidscope, Catholic Charities, Boy and Girl Scouts, Red Cross, Boys and Girls Club, Victims Advocates and Humane Society.
