Feb. 8, 2002 – The Advertising Club of the Virgin Islands will host Alison Nolan, Director of Business Development for Boston Harbor Cruises, operators of the Virgin Islands Fast Ferry, at luncheon presentations Feb.12 and 13.
Nolan will address members of the Ad Club at noon Tuesday, Feb.12 at The Point at Villa Olga in St. Thomas and at Caravelle Hotel in St. Croix Wednesday February 13 .
The Virgin Islands Fast Ferry began offering high-speed ferry service between St.Croix and St. Thomas in November, following a trial run last April. It is operated by Boston Harbor Cruises, the single largest operator of commuter and excursion vessels in the northeast United States. When the company was founded in 1926, by Nolan's grandfather Capt. Matthew Hughes, it had a two vessel operation with two employees. Now it operates 25 vessels, has 450 employees and carries more than 2 million passengers each year.

Nolan's presentation will focus on the challenges the Boston based company faced in launching its first ferry service outside the Continental United States and its plans for future service in the Virgin Islands.
