The 10th annual Spring Charteryacht Show is set for May 3-6 at Crown Bay Marina on St. Thomas.
Susan Chandler, newly appointed executive director for the Virgin Islands Charteryacht League, said the group expects between 40 and 50 sail and power boats to participate in the event, and about 50 charteryacht brokers to attend.
Chandler replaced Judy Knape, who recently resigned after five years as executive director in order to go back into chartering full-time.
"The more intimate scale of the spring show, as compared to the larger fall event, lets brokers interact with charter boat captains and crews," Chandler said.
Along with the show, the league is again sponsoring a New Broker Seminar, a two-part introduction to the business, offered on May 3 and 6. Veteran charter captains and professionals with charter clearinghouses will give training in the business and conduct a session on the charter contracting process. Fee for the seminar is $150.
The VICL has 92 full-fledged independent members actively engaged in the crewed charter business and also owns the Flagship clearinghouse which manages about 80 yachts.
