CUMMIN FALLS TO ANGELS, 23-5

The trash-talking was over and the game was on Thursday night at Emile Griffith Park in the Donald O. Senthill Softball League women's championship, as the Angels downed Cummin 2 Come, 23-5.
The Angels held Cummin 2 Cum scoreless in the first inning, but scored two runs in the bottom of the inning. Cummin 2 Cum answered with two off a two-run home run by Daphne Thomas to tie the game. The Angels quickly took control of the game by scoring six runs in the bottom of the second inning. However that was not their biggest offensive attack. The Angels erupted for 13 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take the game over.
The Angels pounded a total of 20 hits off Cummin 2 Cum pitching. Meanwhile, Angels pitcher Gail Joseph kept the Cummin 2 Cum offense in check, only allowing them nine hits, most of them after the game was out of reach. Joseph picked up the victory for the Angels as Colette Morris suffered the loss for Cummin 2 Cum.
Marris Hodge led the Angel's offense, coming off the bench with two hits in two at-bats. Teammates Syretta Jennings and Toni Whitehead each had two hits in three at-bats. Joseph also contributed with three hits in five at bats with three RBIs. For Cummin 2 Cum, Lynn Liburd and Geralda Williams each went two for three.
Angels take the lead in this best of seven female championship series 1-0. The series will be aired live on WVWI, Radio One, 1000 AM.
