The V.I. Health Department will offer free flu shots starting Friday, according to a statement from Acting Commissioner Dr. Lucien Moolenaar. The commissioner especially urged all health care providers to be immunized and said that free pneumonia vaccines are also available for those residents at risk for the disease.
Flu shots are normally $15 at Health Department clinics. The free flu shots will be administered on all three islands:
– on St. Croix, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday at the Charles Harwood Complex in Estate Richmond;
– on St. John, from noon to 7 p.m. Nov. 9 at the Myrah Keating Smith Health Center;
– on St. Thomas, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Nov. 10 in the Roy L. Schneider Hospital lobby.
