MALL SUPPORTS HEALTHY LIFESTYLES WITH EVENTS

Merchants at the Port of $ale Mall have gone all out in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, with events that support healthy lifestyles to be held throughout the month of October at various locations in the mall.
From make overs to massage and a lot in between, there will be something for everyone at the mall located next to the West Indian Co. Ltd. dock in Havensight.
Calvin Douse will offer Tai Chi classes, Doreen Walsh will teach Yoga, Brenda Armstrong will give 10-minutes seated massages, Carolyn Moody will beautify participants with mini maker overs, naturalist Bobby Olivacce will lecture on the identification, preparation and cancer fighting properties of herbs and the Health Department's Breast and Cervical Cancer Program will offer free breast exams.
Participants will even be able to register to vote on Saturday, Oct. 7 from 12 to 2 p.m.
The following Saturday, Oct 14 a fashion show will showcase clothing from mall shops Soft Touch Boutique, the Mahogany Run Pro Shop and Private Collections.
On Thursday, Oct. 5 the "Hold on to your money day," rally, part of the movement by the recently formed Woman for Positive Change organization will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
And on Sunday Oct. 15. the "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer" two-mile fun run will start at the mall at 5 p.m.
Also, on Oct. 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. free breast exams will be offered at Education Station, and from 11 a.m to 2 p.m. Moody will offer mini facials and make overs.
Events coordinator, Maxine Fredericks, owner of The Comfort Zone, said the businesses wanted to "offer women lifestyle activities for increased health, beauty, happiness and prosperity. "
There will be live music by the Imaginations on Sunday, Oct. 15 starting at 4 p.m., courtesy of Sweetwater Rum House.
The schedule of regular events for October will be:
Every Monday beginning Oct. 2
11 a.m. to 2 p.m. mini make overs at The Comfort Zone
Every Tuesdays and Wednesday starting Oct. 3 and 4:
12:30 – 2 p.m. 10-minute chair massage at The Comfort Zone.
Wednesdays starting Oct. 4:
6 – 7 p.m. Yoga (wear loose clothes, bring mat) in the courtyard.
7 – 9 p.m. Olivacce on herbs in the courtyard.
Saturdays starting Oct. 7
5-7 p.m. Tai Chi in the courtyard .(Wear loose clothes and bring a mat.)
Charges for the events will vary from no charge to donations to a small charge for the mini make overs and chair massages.
