The West Indian Co. Ltd. will continue to manage the Havensight Shopping Mall for the Government Employees Retirement System for another five years.
WICO is a semi-autonomous agency of the V.I. government that is run by a nine-member board appointed by the Public Finance Authority. They do not require Senate confirmation.
GERS acquired the mall when the V.I. government bought the West Indian Co.dock and other property in the area of the dock, including the mall, in 1993.
A release sent late Friday from WICO said only that the Board of Directors of WICO and the Board of Trustees of GERS "have executed an agreement providing for WICO to continue managing"the mall. The release did not include any details of the management agreement between GERS and WICO.
