All five Rotary Clubs of St. Thomas /St. John plus the Rotary affiliate Inner Wheel will be celebrating the association's 16th annual Paul Harris Dinner Dance Saturday, Oct. 13 at the Renaissance Grand Beach Resort.
Rotary II of St. Thomas is hosting this year's festivities.
Paul Harris was the founder of Rotary in 1905, although he was not the first president of the club. In 1912 when Rotary became international with the addition of a Canadian club, Harris was recognized and elected president of Rotary International. Rotary has a tradition of Paul Harris fellows, members who have made a $1,000 contribution to the club's charitable activities, and this year's fellows will be honored at the Saturday dinner dance.
Special guests for the evening are Rotary District Governor "Bobby" Boden and his wife, Tessa, of the Cayman Islands.
Master of Ceremonies for the evening's activities is well-known St. Thomas educator, Joe Trunk, and Chris Brathwaite is dinner dance chairman.
Things get underway at 6 p.m. with cocktails, followed by a 7:15 p.m. dinner. At 8:15 comes Paul Harris "The Man," presentations, and at 9:30 p.m. the dancing begins. But that's not all. There is also a silent auction with many marvelous items donated by local merchants, a raffle and door prizes for the members only affair.
