Brief: Annual Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet Coming Up Saturday

May 31, 2007 — Awards for community service, student achievement and outstanding commitment to the territory will be presented to a small group of local residents and businesses Saturday at the St. Thomas-St. John Chamber of Commerce's annual awards banquet and dinner dance.
This year's event, themed "Under the Sea," will be held at the St. Peter Greathouse on St. Thomas and will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a champagne toast and cocktail reception. Dinner will follow, along with the awards presentation and dancing to the smooth sounds of Cool Session Brass, according to Chamber Executive Director Joseph Aubain.
This year's honorees will be:
— Trudie Prior, president and general manager of Coral World Ocean Park, and Neil Prior, executive chairman of Atlantic Tele-Network, recipients of the 2007 Wilbur "Bill" LaMotta Community Service Award;
— Tourism Commissioner Beverly Nicholson-Doty, also a LaMotta Community Service award recipient;
–Ginn Resorts – Mahogany Run Gulf Course, recipient of the Award for Design Excellence; and
— Sonnell Browne, state president of the Virgin Islands Future Business Leaders of America at Charlotte Amalie High School, recipient of the 2007 Student Achievement Award.
Tickets for the event, which includes an open bar and free shuttle service from the Joseph Sibilly Elementary School parking lot, are $125 per person and can be purchased by calling the Chamber at 776-0100.
