Botanical Garden Program Features Chocolate

Feb. 6, 2008 – Just in time for Valentine's Day, island chocoholics will have a field day at St. George Village Botanical Garden's "Second Saturdays" program on Saturday, Feb. 9.
From 9 a.m. to noon on the second Saturday of each month, SGVBG board member Marilyn Chakroff will be holding botanically-related workshops that will inspire local children and their parents to be more aware of the role plants play in our lives. This one will be held in the Bodine Visitors' Center at the Botanical Garden.
"February's workshop will answer such questions as: Where does chocolate come from? Who were the first people to use chocolate?" Chakroff said. "At this workshop, parents and children will find out the answers to these questions and more. Come to the chocolate workshop to learn about the history of chocolate, grind up real chocolate seeds, create Aztec and Spanish chocolate drinks, and make chocolates to take home."
Space for the workshops is limited; there is a $5 per person charge. To register, call 692-2874. Payment can be made at the workshop.
