The St. Thomas abattoir will be temporarily closed on Wednesday, Aug. 22, according to a press release issued Monday by the Department of Agriculture.
“We will not be accepting any animals to be slaughtered on Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012 due to maintenance that is being performed on site. The abattoir will re-open on Tuesday, August 28, 2012,” Commissioner Louis E. Petersen Jr., Ph.D. said.
