The University of the Virgin Islands College of Science and Mathematics and the Etelman Observatory will host its next public observing session using the V.I. Robotic Telescope (VIRT) from 7:30-10:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 16. The Leonid meteor shower will be on display, as will views of the planet Jupiter with its Galilean moons and the Ring Nebula stellar remnant. The evening will also feature a video presentation on and discussion of extra-terrestrial collisions with the Earth,"Skyfall – Stuff that Hits the Earth from Space."
"We are pleased to invite the St. Thomas public to join us and enjoy the night sky, views of our galaxy, and a discussion of interesting and exciting topics in the world of astrophysics and space science," said Dr. David Morris.
The event is presented free of charge to the St. Thomas community through charitable sponsorship by Celtic Therapeutics. The rain date is 7:30-10:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17.
