Sen. Lorraine L. Berry has set the first meeting of the Senate Finance Committee, which she chairs, for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10. She has asked top members of the executive branch to bring information about the government's fiscal condition.
The agenda calls for reports from the special assistant for economic and financial affairs, acting director of Management and Budget, acting Finance commissioner, acting director of Internal Revenue and the tax assessor.
Berry also called for a report from the Public Finance Authority on current construction and contracts.
Among other things, Berry has asked for identification of an administration point person on the Y2K project, projected revenues and allotments for the general fund for fiscal year 1999, proposals to meet
union retroactive wage obligations, amounts owed to vendors, status of sale of tax liens, status of 1998 property tax bills and status of tax refunds still owed.
Berry asked the acting Finance commissioner to provide the status of government audit reports that are due to be completed soon.
She also asked the Finance commissioner to report on what has been done to include the lump-sum payments made to Schneider administration officials under miscellaneous disbursement vouchers on W-2s issued. She also is asking about the FICA liability on the lump-sum payments.
