WORK BEGINS ON JULIAN JACKSON DRIVE

Public Works has begun resurfacing the road now known as Julian Jackson Drive, from the old airport turnoff to John Brewer s Bay. Work will be done from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and should be completed by Monday, March 1.
Tyrone Martin, spokesperson for the Public Works Department, said he didn t anticipate any problems with traffic on the project as long as motorists obey the work crew's orders and reduce their speed.
The road in front of Brewer s beach is four lanes. Martin said they will close one lane at a time and reroute traffic accordingly. However, people going to the beach should keep an eye on their parked vehicles and be prepared to move them, if necessary.
Martin said one reason for resurfacing there is that the concrete road becomes very slippery when wet and therefore is dangerous, particularly for emergency vehicles.
Martin said he expects work to begin in about 10 days on Crown Mountain Road, starting at the Tri-Mart intersection and going all the way up to the turnoff to the radio towers.
