DON'T MISS DAVID AMRAM AT TILLETT'S

0

Red-flag your calendar for Feb. 17. Because on that evening the multi-talented David Amram and his trio will appear in concert at the Tillett Gardens.
The Boston Globe described Amram as the true Renaissance man. Amram has composed more than 100 works for orchestra and chamber groups that include theater and film scores for “Splendor In The Grass” and “The Manchurian Candidate.”
Amram has mastered a dozen major instruments and is a pioneer of jazz on French horn. He’s worked with musical giants Leonard Bernstein, Dizzy Gillespie, Theloneus Monk and Tito Puente, and was composer in residence in 1966 and ‘67 with the New York Philharmonic.
In addition to arranging scores for the N.Y. Shakespeare Festival, he recorded the critically acclaimed Havana-N.Y. album during the historic U.S.-Cuban music exchange in 1977.
The Amram trio’s program will include Billy Strayhorn’s “Take the A train,” Sonny Rollins' “St. Thomas,” George Gershwin’s “Summertime,” Antonio Carlos Jobim’s “Girl From Ipanema” and the theme from the award-winning “Splendor in the Grass."
This will be a night to remember. You know I’ll be there.
