THE KING AT REICHHOLD

Louis Ible Jr., four times St. Thomas's Calypso King, will perform his first ever solo concert at Reichhold Center for the Arts on Saturday night. The show begins at 8 p.m.
He'll have the whole place to himself — except, that is, for the 10 musicians who will accompany him.
People in St. Thomas are used to seeing Ible performing at Calypso tent during Carnival, but a night at the Reichhold promises to be a very different experience.
Ible has been writing and performing calypso for 12 years. He was named Calypso King four consecutive years beginning in 1994.
Among the songs he is known for are: "Play it Safe and Jam;" "For Really" that won him his first crown; "Still in de Back of de Bus" and "The Million Man March."
Along with the songs he is well known for Ible is expected to perform some tunes that have not been performed before.
Ible is not only well known in his native St. Thomas, but it is clear he is well loved. During an interview on the Anita Davis show on WVWI Thursday morning, he received one call after another from well-wishers and fans.
In his spare time — and for money — Ible is the publisher of "Flair Magazine." He is also a graphic designer.
