Almost 200 of the 350 Danish tourists who arrived in St. Croix Sunday night on an inaugural charter flight from Denmark are expected to visit St. Thomas during their two-week stay in the islands.
The Danes spent more than nine hours on a DC-10 to get from Copenhagen to the Caribbean.
Many are expected to spend a week of their vacation on St. Thomas, according to the Daily News.
The nonstop flights, organized by Steen Digemose, a Dane who relocated to St. Croix about two months ago, have been two years in the planning. They are expected to run at least twice a month for seven months through October.
The flights could increase to once a week if the demand is there.
