WILLIAMS AGAIN DENIED BAIL

0

Ian Williams Jr., the police officer accused of witness-tampering and third-degree assault, has once again been denied bail.
Federal Magistrate Judge Geoffrey Barnard refused for the second time Monday to release Williams. Barnard said the court was still unconvinced that Williams' common-law wife, Brendaly Nazario, would be safe if he were released.
Williams is accused of threatening Nazario's life if she testified against him.
Several members of the VI Police Department demonstrated last weekend in support of Williams, vice president of the Police Benevolent Association.
Barnard did agree to allow Williams to be transferred from a Puerto Rico facility to Golden Grove prison on St. Croix to allow him easier access to his attorney and family, according to Radio One.
Barnard cited Williams' disregard of a court order, the violent nature of a tape recording in which Williams allegedly threatens Nazario and her family, and the serious nature of the allegations as the reasons for his decision.
