UNDERCOVER AGENT ARRESTS 2 ON GUN CHARGE

Two St. Thomas men who allegedly tried to kill an undercover agent have been arrested and charged with possession of a firearm during a drug trafficking crime.
Akil Greig, 18, and Yambo Williams, 20, were arrested April 14, U.S. Attorney James A. Hurd Jr. announced Friday.
The criminal complaint charges that Greig and Williams participated in a purchase of what appeared to be crack cocaine. After the two men suspected that the undercover federal agent was a law enforcement officer,
Greig pulled a firearm and attempted to kill him.
Hurd Jr. credited the arrests to multi-agency cooperation.
The penalty for possession of a firearm during a drug trafficking offense carries a five-year prison sentence, which must be served consecutive to any other term of imprisonment, and a $250,000 fine.
