TWO NEW ARTISTS SHOWING AT JIMMY'S STUDIO

Lexie Montgomery and Jessi Smith made their debut on the Virgin Islands art scene at 5 p.m. Friday, April 2, at Jimmy's studio on Government Hill.
The two women say they agreed on the term environmental as their inspiration for the show.
"We thought with our common theme, we could show the diversity of our works. Jessi paints the environment and I create internal environments," said Montgomery.
The contrast is amply displayed in their collaborative effort, which they have called "Environ Mental."
Montgomery, a multimedia artist, deals in found object sculptures using bottles, toys and anything else that strikes her fancy.
A graduate of Emily Carr College of Art and Design, Montgomery has addressed herself primarily to issues of sexuality, exploring the female experience.
Smith, an artist from Maine, uses the ocean and its creatures as her muse, working mainly in acrylic and pencil.
Their works range from paintings and collage to found-art sculpture.
The show can be viewed at Jimmy's studio at the regular Friday night "Wine-Down" on April 2, 9 and 16. The events feature a complimentary glass of wine and tapas.
Jimmy's Studio is located next to Zorba's on Government Hill.
On April 22 the artists move their show to Alexander's Café in Frenchtown where both are employed as waitresses.
