WHY IS PUBLIC KEPT ‘IN THE DARK' ON PROSSER DEAL?

0

Hold it! One minute! When the Prosser deal news first broke on April 1 public opposition and opposition by our "elected officials" made it seem clear that the "deal" was dead.
So how did this deal make it, in the form of a proposed bill, to the floor of the legislature? I said it from the beginning, something stinks! Our elected officials would sell their souls for the right price. The price, in this case, is in the form of a thirty-year tax break for Mr. Prosser's companies.
Mr. Prosser has put out the bait to see how desperate this government is or to see how bad of a shape it really is in.
And we the people seem to be kept in the dark about it. Only two weeks ago, about the same time as the announced "Payless Payday" this government would have reasoned that Mr. Prosser's proposal was a "New Deal" for helping this government out of debt. Several senators opposed the "Prosser Proposal" outright! Are these same senators now changing their tune? I was made to understand that government employees are not interested in a land for cash deal. So then why are the unions supporting this idea. If Mr.Prosser's deal is good for the Virgin Islands then why all the "back door" dealings.
To Mr. Prosser I ask you to bring your proposal to the people directly. Allow us to question you on the proposal on the radio airwaves of the Virgin Islands. Or allow a newspaper other than one of yours to interview you and get the facts straight. If your proposal is indeed good for the long term good of St. Croix you should be able to convince us without breaking a sweat. Only then will you have the support of the people. After all, we the voters don't trust the people we elect, we just like them to think we do!
